On Thursday, a soldier lost his life during a confrontation with terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir town of Kishtwar. Known as ‘Op Trashi,’ the operation is still going on in Chhatru.
“In the course of the current operation, a violent gunfight persists. One of our courageous members suffered severe injuries during the exchange of fire and, despite the best medical interventions, has unfortunately passed away”, stated the White Knight Corps on X.
At the same time, it’s reported that four terrorists are cornered in the area while the operation is ongoing in the Valley.

Previously, officials announced that combined security teams initiated a cordon and search operation following credible intelligence regarding a group of three to four terrorists.
The perimeter was secured to trap the terrorists and prevent their escape. As the combined forces approached, the terrorists hiding out started shooting, leading to an ongoing confrontation. An official informed IANS that three to four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists are believed to be barricaded inside.
The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps announced on its X account that,” they have named the operation ‘Op Trashi’. They reported: ‘This morning, we made contact with #terrorists during a joint #operation with @JmuKmrPolice at #Chhatru, #Kishtwar. More troops have been deployed, and efforts are continuing to neutralize the terrorists”.
The joint teams have stepped up their efforts against terrorists, their supporters, and sympathizers in Jammu and Kashmir.

The activities escalated following April 22, when terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) divided tourists according to their religion and murdered 26 individuals, comprising 25 tourists and one local resident, in the Baisaran meadow located in Pahalgam.
The despicable act of terrorism provoked widespread indignation across the nation. In retaliation, India initiated Operation Sindoor, executing precision strikes aimed at terrorist facilities located in Muridke near Lahore, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad within Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).
India decided to halt military actions after Pakistan contacted the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) level to discuss a ceasefire.
Extensive search for terrorists in the Valley
On the previous Thursday, security forces killed three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in a gunfight in the Tral area of south Kashmir. This incident marked the second clash in the region within 48 hours, following the deaths of three Lashkar-e-Taiba members.
Three individuals from Kashmir, Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat, who were identified as terrorists, lost their lives during an operation in Nader Tral that was initiated based on intelligence reports. Drones were utilized in the operation to help find their hiding places.
A police spokesperson mentioned that ,”sharing this type of content could inadvertently support extremist propaganda and potentially interfere with ongoing investigations. They also urged the public to avoid the area”.

On May 13, the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, including their local leader Shahid Kuttay, were eliminated in Shopian. Additionally, a Pakistani terrorist was killed in Handwara in March. Following six terrorist deaths last week, officials reported that only seven local militants are currently active, marking the lowest number since 1990.
