Meta has quietly launched a new standalone app called Forum, designed around Facebook Groups and community conversations.

The app delivers a Reddit-like experience where users can dive into topic-based discussions, ask questions, and connect with niche communities — all while integrating Meta’s AI-powered features for smarter interactions and recommendations.

Forum is being positioned as a “dedicated space for more in-depth discussions, genuine answers, and communities that matter to you,” according to the app’s official description.

Instead of the fast-scrolling social feed seen on Facebook and Instagram, Forum focuses on threaded conversations and community engagement.

The app is currently free to download, but Meta has limited its rollout to iOS users in the United States.

This early-access strategy suggests the company is testing user response and refining the platform before considering a wider global release.

For users in regions like India, the app remains unavailable for now, with no official word yet on Android support or international expansion. Still, Forum signals Meta’s growing interest in community-driven social platforms that blend AI tools with long-form online discussions.

Even though the app hasn’t officially launched, social media consultants were the first to spot it. Forum is part of ’s broader push to launch new apps.

Last month, the company also introduced , an app that lets Instagram users share disappearing photos with friends.

A Reddit-Style Feed

Users can log into Forum using their Facebook account. Once signed in, the app shows posts from their Facebook Groups in a feed that looks similar to Reddit, along with their profile details and activity.

Users on Forum can post using a nickname, similar to how it works on the regular app.

Anything shared on Forum is also visible within the user’s Facebook Groups, keeping conversations connected across both platforms.

The app also lets users post directly to specific groups and discover new communities based on their interests.

According to Meta, Forum is designed around group discussions, helping users follow real conversations instead of just trending topics and easily pick up where they left off.

AI-Powered Group Discovery

Forum also includes a compact version of a user’s profile that highlights only their group-related posts and activity.

One of the app’s standout features is an AI-powered “Ask” tab designed to help users find answers from group discussions.

Users can type in questions, and the AI generates responses by pulling information from conversations shared across different Facebook Groups.

The answers also include links to the original posts used in the AI response, allowing users to open and read the full discussion for more context.

In addition, Forum recommends new Facebook Groups based on a user’s interests and activity, making it easier to discover relevant communities.

Group Admins can also use an AI assistant to help manage Groups and moderate content.

Meta’s New App Push

Forum is one of the latest apps launched by as part of its broader effort to expand its social media ecosystem.

Last month, , which is owned by Meta, also introduced a new feature and companion app called .

The Instants feature is built into Instagram’s direct messages and allows users to quickly share unedited, filter-free photos with friends.

These photos disappear after being viewed, making the feature similar to temporary photo-sharing tools found in other social apps.

Meanwhile, the standalone Instants app is currently being tested on both iOS and Android in select countries.

Growing Doubts About New Apps

It remains unclear whether consumers actually want more apps in this AI-driven era, especially as Meta’s recent launches appear heavily inspired by existing platforms.

Familiar Concepts In Meta’s Launches

For example, the Instants app has drawn comparisons to both Snapchat and BeReal, while Meta Edits is considered strikingly similar to ByteDance’s CapCut in both concept and features.

Meta’s “Forum” shows the company’s move toward deeper online communities and discussion-driven social networking.

What do you think? Will Meta’s “Forum” become a real competitor to Reddit, or just another social app that people quickly forget?
