Manali and Gulmarg are typically the first places that spring to mind when someone thinks of snowfall in India.

However, there are plenty of secret locations with breathtaking snow views.

1)Mechuka (State – Arunachal Pradesh)

One of Arunachal Pradesh’s best-kept secrets is Mechuka, which is close to the India-China border.

In the winter, this little town in the Shi-Yomi district receives a lot of snow, which turns it into a stunning white paradise.

Picturesque scenes include snowy fields, traditional wooden houses, and the Siyom River flowing through the valley.

2)Dhanaulti ( State – Uttarakhand)

Dhanaulti is one of Uttarakhand’s best kept winter secrets, despite being only an hour away from the busy city of Mussoorie.

From December to February, it receives a lot of snowfall at an elevation of about 7,000 feet.

A tranquil retreat for those seeking solitude, the town is encircled by dense forests of rhododendron and deodar.

You can go on quick hikes, visit Eco Park, or engage in snowball fights on deserted slopes.

3)Kalpa( State – Himachal Pradesh)

The tiny Himachal Pradeshi village of Kalpa, located in the Kinnaur district, seems to be from a different era.

When December arrives, Kalpa transforms into a snowy wonderland with views of the magnificent Kinner Kailash Range.

The wooden houses, pine forests, and apple orchards are covered in snow, making for picturesque views.

The peaceful location of Kalpa, away from the busy crowds of popular hill stations.

Relax in a homestay while admiring the snowflakes falling on the Himalayan peaks, or visit the nearby village of Roghi.

4)Lachung and Yumthang Valley(State- Sikkim)

The picturesque Yumthang Valley, sometimes referred to as the “Valley of Flowers of the East,” is best visited from Lachung, a sleepy mountain village in northern Sikkim.

The meadows, streams, and rhododendron groves are all covered in snow during the winter, which completely transforms the valley.

The whole place looks like a snow globe scene from December to February.

Just as enchanted as the valley itself is the journey to Yumthang, with its frozen waterfalls and twisting roads.

In early summer, snow still falls at nearby Zero Point, which is more than 15,000 feet above sea level.
