The Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Gujarat Giants by seven wickets after successfully chasing down 193, which is the second-highest successful chase in WPL history.

On Tuesday(January 13,2026), Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants faced off in WPL 2026 match 6 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Earlie,Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss, choose to bowl first against Gujarat Giants.

The Giants started off strong after being put in to bat, with Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney going after the returning Hayley Matthews, hitting four boundaries in the second over.

Shabnim Ismail gained an advantage in the first over, but wicketkeeper Kamalini couldn’t hold onto it. That error was insignificant because Ismail struck once more in the third over, getting Devine to nick one behind for eight. Kamalini made the catch this time.

With Anushka Sharma out due to injury, Kanika Ahuja stepped up to bat at No. 3.

She kept the momentum going, starting with a strong drive through the covers, and teamed up with Mooney to deal some damage.

Even after Mooney was out, Ahuja kept it going alongside Ash Gardner.

Together, they took the Giants to 99 for 3 by the end of the 10th over.

Gardner got out in the 10th, and Ahuja followed in the 11th, but by then, the Giants had set a solid foundation.

MI fought their way back into the game after Ahuja was out.

Ayushi Soni, who came in for Anushka, had a tough time finding her rhythm, while her partner Georgia Wareham kept finding the gaps.

Soni was at 7 off 10 balls by the end of the 16th over when she decided to retire out, making her the first player in WPL history to do so.

This opened the door for Bharti Fulmali, who made sure it was a smart move.

Fulmali dodged two lbw appeals in the 17th over from Amanjot, both of which were overturned in her favor.

She then went on a late attack, taking on Carey with two fours and a six in the 19th over, and then really ramped it up in the final over.

Fulmali hit two fours and two sixes off Amanjot as the Giants racked up 39 runs in the last two overs.

Georgia Wareham and Bharti Fulmali gave the Gujarat Giants a late surge with a strong finishing display, putting together an unbroken 56-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Their collaboration helped the Giants reach a competitive total of 192/5 after facing early challenges.

Harmanpreet expertly guided the chase, receiving solid backing from Amanjot Kaur and Nicola Carey.

She received solid support from Amanjot Kaur, who contributed a crucial 40, and Nicola Carey, who also remained unbeaten with 38.

Together, they ensured Mumbai crossed the finish line with four balls to spare, showcasing a calm and confident run chase.

MI improved their flawless head-to-head record against the Giants to 8-0.
