Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered outstanding performances as India secured a commanding seven wicket victory (DLS method) against New Zealand in the U-19 World Cup held in Bulawayo on Saturday(January 24,2026).

Match Summary

Earlier,New Zealand found themselves in trouble at 69 for 7 as the Indian bowlers kept taking wickets right from the start, ultimately bowling the Kiwis out for 135 in 36.2 overs.

Snehith Reddy (10) was the only batter from New Zealand’s top five to reach double digits.

Despite some resistance from the lower order, New Zealand simply didn’t have enough runs to compete.

Jacob Cotter (23), Callum Samson (37), and Selwin Sanjay (28) contributed some important late runs for New Zealand, but none of them could really make an impact against the Indians.

For India, RS Ambrish takes four wickets. Khilan Patel, Mohamed Enaan, and Kanish Chouhan each took a wicket.

While chasing a target of 130 in 37 overs, India faced an early setback with the loss of Aaron George.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi  and captain Mhatre put together a solid 76-run partnership for the second wicket.

Mhatre scored 53 runs off 27 balls, and Suryavanshi contributed 40 runs off 23 balls.

Later, Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi added 17 and 13 runs respectively, helping India cross the finish line in just 13.3 overs.

Indian team easily handled a shortened match of 37 overs per side, asserting their dominance in the tournament with yet another significant victory.
