After the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC approximately a year ago, Japanese game developer FromSoftware has not wasted any time in adding Elden Ring: Nightreign to the repertoire of players eager for more of the Lands Between. With some modifications to gameplay and the ability to customize your favorite warrior, among other things, this Elden Ring experience is different. Therefore, here are ten things you should know before purchasing this game.

Created by Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, Elden Ring Nightreign is a three-player cooperative dark fantasy action survival game.

Limveld, a fictional nation in the Elden Ring universe, is the setting for Elden Ring Nightreign. It is described as “a transitory land, buffeted by the raging might of the Nightlords”.

In order to succeed in Elden Ring Nightreign, you must survive three full days in the game world, which translates to three cycles of day and night. If you make it through the day, you will have to deal with the Night’s Tide, which reduces the size of the map and forces you to fight the Elden Ring Nightreign bosses.

To put an end to the reign of night, defeat the Nightlords According to the game developers, the Nightlords in the FromSoftware game are “enormous beings” that “lurk out of most mortals’ reach and only come to light after their leaders are vanquished after two nights in a row”. Before the reign of night can be ended, each Nightlord must be faced and defeated.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Total number of participants Three-player cooperative gameplay is the focus of Elden Ring: Nightreign. Elden Ring Nightreign is still playable solo, so you can attempt to defeat the bosses by yourself if you’d like.

Not a DLC Elden Ring Nightreign is not an Elden Ring DLC. It is an independent multiplayer game designed for cooperative play.

Having a copy of Elden Ring is not necessary to play Nightreign because it is a stand-alone game.

Crossplay is not supported in Elden Ring Nightreign. But it does support cross-generation, so Xbox Series X|S players can play with Xbox One players and PS5 players may play with PS4 players.

The Duchess, Executer, Guardian, Ironeye, Raider, Recluse, Revenant, and Wylder are the eight distinct characters in Elden Ring Nightreign. Elden Ring Nightreign restricts your ability to create a character the way you choose because they are the Nightfarers and cannot be created from start.

Platforms for Elden Ring Nightreign:It was released on May 30, 2025, for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
