PSG Defeats Inter Milan In The Champions League Final

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Inter Milan 5-0 on Saturday (May 31,2025) to win the Champions League for the first time. The game was dominated by Luis Enrique’s youthful squad, and teenager Desire Doue scored twice to give his club the largest winning margin in the tournament’s history, which dates back to 1956.

Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring early in the match against his old team. In the 20th minute, Doue’s attempt deflected and gave PSG a 2-0 lead. Shortly after the hour, he scored once again, ensuring victory. Substitute Senny Mayulu made it five goals, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added the fourth.

Inter had a difficult game the entire time.since the start of the European Cup and Champions League seven decades ago was achieved by PSG.

After years of spending, PSG’s Qatari owners have finally achieved this victory. Additionally, it comes after their sole previous final loss to Bayern Munich in 2020. So far this season, PSG has won both the French league and the cup. Since Marseille defeated AC Milan in 1993, again in Munich, they are the only other French team to have won the Champions League.

It marks Luis Enrique’s second Champions League victory as coach of PSG. He had already won it ten years ago with Barcelona.

After Kylian Mbappe left the team, the current PSG team was assembled over the course of the previous two years. Doue was the most notable player in the final and will turn 20 on Tuesday.

A Fourth Champions League trophy was not something Inter Milan could add. Their most recent victory occurred in 2010. In the last three years, coach Simone Inzaghi has led Inter to the final twice, both times losing. Along with finishing the season without a trophy, they were also unable to win the Serie A championship.

Marcus Thuram’s header missed the mark in the first half, giving Inter one chance. The second half saw worsening conditions, with Yann Bisseck, a defender who replaced Benjamin Pavard, having to leave the game after ten minutes due to injury.

In the sixty-third minute, PSG scored a third goal. Vitinha received the ball from Dembele and transferred it to Doue.

In the 63rd minute, PSG scored a third goal. Sommer was beaten by Doue at the near post. The audience cheered as he was replaced.Sommer lost against Doue at the near post.The crowd cheered him on after he was replaced.

More goals were added by PSG. In the 73rd minute, Dembele’s assist to Kvaratskhelia resulted in the fourth goal. Then, in the 86th minute, Mayulu and Bradley Barcola played a one-two, and Mayulu scored the fifth goal.

This marked the first occasion a team scored five goals in a Champions League final since Benfica did it in 1962.
