Jemimah Rodrigues delivered the performance of a lifetime, smashing a century that will be remembered as India achieved a record chase to reach the Women’s World Cup 2025 final with a five-wicket victory over the defending champions, Australia, in Navi Mumbai on Thursday(October 30,2025).

Earlier, Healy won the toss and chose to bat first against Harmanpreet Kaur’s India in the second semi-final match.
The Australian opener Phoebe Litchfield’s 119 off 93 balls was the foundation of Australia’s substantial total of 338 all out in 50 overs.
Litchfield, Ellyse Perry (77 off 88 balls) provided stability during a 155-run partnership for the second wicket, while Ashleigh Gardner added some late fireworks with 65 runs off 45 balls.
It was a challenging day for the bowlers, with only young spinner Shree Charani (2/49 in 10 overs) managing to keep the runs in check.
Deepti Sharma (2/73) took a couple of wickets but was quite expensive.
Although the Indian openers lost their wicket in the second innings, the third and fourth wickets began to play calmly.
Rodrigues skillfully led the innings with an impressive unbeaten 127 off 134 balls, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed significantly with 89 runs off 88 balls.
Deepti Sharma (24) and Richa Ghosh (26) also made valuable contributions, helping India surpass the target with nine balls remaining.
India successfully chased down 339 – the highest target ever in an ODI World Cup knockout match.
For Australia, Kim Garth (2/46) and Annabel Sutherland (2/69) were among those who took wickets.
They are set to face South Africa in the final.
In an ODI World Cup knockout, no team, men’s or women’s, has ever chased down a total of 300 or more.
New Zealand’s 298 against South Africa in the 2015 men’s semifinal in Auckland was the previous best chase.
In every way, the victory was historic for the hosts.
India is heading to their third Women’s ODI World Cup final, having previously lost in the finals of 2005 and 2017.
