Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the legendary Argentine footballer Lionel Messi in Hyderabad, Telangana, during the GOAT India Tour 2025 on Saturday.
The tour kicked off earlier that day in Kolkata, where chaotic scenes highlighted the event’s poor organization in the West Bengal capital.

The Congress leader arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon to participate in Messi’s event at the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Stadium as part of the tour.
Rahul Gandhi shared a instagram video reel featuring himself with the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), Messi, along with his Inter Miami teammates, Luiz Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul. He captioned the video, “Viva Football With the GOAT @leomessi”.
He also uploaded some photos, writing, “‘The beautiful game’”.
The video quickly went viral, sparking a flood of reactions. One user commented, “Two GOATS”, while another said, “Aura farming”.
Messi mesmerized a nearly full Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, thrilling fans by displaying the skills that have earned him a place among the greatest players in the sport.
As he made his entrance, the World Cup-winning Argentine captain was met with thunderous cheers from the crowd.
Messi, together with his Inter Miami buddies Luiz Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul, took part in a penalty shootout for the GOAT Cup.
Chief Minister Reddy also showed up for the event in football gear. Afterward, the players held football clinics for kids before leaving the stadium.
