On Tuesday(December 16,2025), Argentine player and FIFA World Cup champ Lionel Messi took part in traditional Hindu ceremonies during his visit to the Vantara facility set up by the Reliance Foundation in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Alongside Anant Ambani, Messi engaged in rituals like Nariyal Utsarg and Matka Phod, which represent goodwill and new beginnings.

In photos released by Reliance, the legendary Argentine footballer was spotted receiving blessings from Lord Hanuman and participating in a Maha Aarti at a temple, which included rituals for Ambe Mata Puja, Ganesh Puja, Hanuman Puja, and Shiv Abhishek.

After wrapping up the G.O.A.T. India tour, Messi made a special visit to Vantara, accompanied by his Inter Miami teammates Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul.

The trio was greeted in a grand, traditional manner.

Pictures from Messi’s time at Vantara captured the Rosario magician enjoying the sights, which include rescued big cats, elephants, and various other animals.

This trip marked Messi’s second visit to India since 2011 and was truly unforgettable.

The tour kicked off with a statue unveiling, but chaos erupted in Kolkata when frustrated fans vandalized the Salt Lake Stadium after they couldn’t catch a glimpse of the FIFA World Cup champion, despite spending thousands of rupees.

This incident made international news and went viral on social media, ultimately resulting in the resignation of West Bengal’s sports minister, Arup Biswas.

From Kolkata, Messi headed to Hyderabad, where his visit to the Telangana capital went smoothly, yet it still drew significant attention in football circles.

Viral videos from Messi’s trip to Hyderabad featured Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, decked out in football gear, attempting to pass the ball to Messi but failing spectacularly.

Naturally, these clips drew laughter not only from Indian fans and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju but also from football enthusiasts around the globe.

In contrast, Messi’s time in Mumbai was pretty uneventful, yet the Argentine superstar delighted fans with his presence and mingled with Bollywood’s elite.

Messi concluded his journey with a visit to Delhi, where he was met by excited fans chanting “AQI” due to the city’s deteriorating air quality.

Messi expresses gratitude to India
Amid the frenzy, the Argentine wizard acknowledged the thousands of devoted fans who came out just to see him.
