It’s been exactly three weeks since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requested Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to remove Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 lineup.
The nation has declined to travel to India due to security issues and has been asked to relocate its matches.
The BCB has requested to play all four of its group-stage games in Sri Lanka, where the India-Pakistan match will also occur under the agreed hybrid setup for ICC events until 2027.
The ICC has dismissed these concerns, stating that they are constrained with less than two weeks remaining before the tournament.
The BCB has shown no signs of backing down, and unless a miracle occurs, Scotland is likely to take Bangladesh’s spot in the tournament.
Scotland is next in line based on rankings for the tournament, which kicks off on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to make an official decision today(January 24,2026),regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
