The top-seeded Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag defeated Choong Hon Jian and Muhammad Haikal 21-16, 21-13 at the Singapore Open BWF Super-750 competition on Wednesday, displaying no signs of rust. Due to Chirag’s back injury, the previous world No. 1 team has not played since they retired from the All England Championship in March.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun of Chinese Taipei 21-14, 19-21, 21-17 to advance to the second round of the women’s doubles competition.

Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani defeated Chen Zhi Yi and Francesca Corbett of the USA 21-16, 21-19 in the first round of the mixed doubles tournament.

However, a lower back injury forced Lakshya Sen to quit. When Lakshya resigned, he was behind 21-15, 17-21, and 5-13. He got off to a strong start and won the first game, but he struggled in the second. Since last Saturday, Lakshya has been having lower back pain. For the Indonesia Super-1000 competition next week, his club is hoping he will be healthy.

Satwik-Chirag defeated Jian and Haikal for the second time, displaying their supreme dominance.
