Air India’s flight to London, which was supposed to leave from Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) afternoon, got cancelled because of “operational issues”, according to an airport official.

Air India’s official site has also confirmed that the AI-159 flight from Ahmedabad to Gatwick airport in London has been cancelled.

The flight was supposed to leave at 3 p.m. from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

“We’ve just been told that the flight is cancelled because of some operational problems. The original flight from Ahmedabad to London, which was AI-171, is back in service starting Monday with a new flight code AI-159”, the airport official mentioned.

The official didn’t go into detail about the “operational issues” that led to the flight being canceled.

Flight AI-171, which went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad on June 12, has been assigned a new code, AI-159. Sadly, all but one of the 242 passengers and crew on flight AI-171 lost their lives in the crash.
