Talented Indian badminton players Tanvi Sharma and Ayush Shetty made their way into the semifinals of the U.S. Open tournament with strong victories, keeping up their remarkable performance in the Super 300 event here.

The 16-year-old Tanvi finished her match in just 33 minutes, securing a solid 21-13, 21-16 win against her higher-ranked Malaysian rival, Karupathevan Letshanaa.

Ayush also put on a great show, defeating junior world champion Kuo Kuan Lin from Chinese Taipei with scores of 22-20, 21-9 in straight games.

On Saturday, Tanvi is set to face Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova in the semifinal, while Ayush will go up against the top seed Chou Tien-chen from Chinese Taipei for a shot at the finals.

Polina surprised everyone by defeating the third-seeded Sung Shuo-yun from Chinese Taipei in her quarterfinal match.

Ayush is really going to have his work cut out for him in the semifinal against the seasoned Chen, who previously defeated the young Indian at the Taipei Open.

However, Ayush can draw confidence from his impressive performance this year, having reached the semifinals three times on the BWF World Tour 2025, including at the Orleans Masters and Taipei Open.
