The company’s decision to move further iPhone production to India has angered Trump, who wants Apple (AAPL) to produce iPhones domestically.
On Thursday, Trump told reporters that he requested Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook to cease constructing facilities in India to produce gadgets for the American market.
Regarding his chat with Apple CEO Tim Cook, Trump stated, “I had a little problem with him yesterday.” “I told him that I had been really kind to you, my friend. I hear you’re expanding all over India, but you’re bringing $500 billion with you. You shouldn’t construct in India, in my opinion.
Trump was alluding to Apple’s February announcement that it would invest $500 billion in the United States.

“We don’t want you to build in India,” Trump said to Cook. India is able to care for itself. We would like you to construct here.
Following their conversation, Trump declared that Apple would be “increasing their output within the US market”.He didn’t elaborate. Furthermore, a request for response from Apple was not answered.

Following the imposition of strict tariffs by Trump on Chinese imports into the United States, Apple expedited the transition of its production from China. Trump’s tariff proposal is to encourage businesses to relocate their manufacturing to the United States.
By year’s end, Apple intends to manufacture the majority of its iPhones that are headed to the United States in India. Additionally, it has shifted the manufacturing of its iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods to Vietnam.
