At the famous and enormous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Virat Kohli finally held the IPL trophy after defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final. With the help of their bowling attack, RCB’s incredible comeback ends an 18-year title wait.

Virat Kohli has finally secured the prestigious trophy that had eluded him until now, as his unwavering dedication to the franchise is rewarded this evening after many years.

Although Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, the Kings’ openers, gave them a strong start in their chase for 191, with the latter being dropped by Romario Shepherd, Josh Hazlewood ultimately made the breakthrough by removing Priyansh on 24.

Josh Inglis kept things going with his 23-ball 39 but was dismissed by Krunal Pandya. Prabhsimran also lost his wicket on 26. The major surprise, however, came in the 10th over when PBKS’ big hitter and captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for just 1 run after being caught behind off Romario Shepherd’s delivery.

Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh were left to try to lead their team to victory, but it was not to be. In the 17th over, Wadhera was caught by Krunal Pandya and scooped up by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which much relieved the supporters as half the team was sent back to the pavilion.

After Stoinis hit a six off the previous delivery and was caught at third man, Bhuvi took another wicket in the same over, leaving Shashank as the only legitimate hitter remaining in the chase.

Following that, it was all RCB as the bowlers took quick wickets to limit Punjab to just 184/7 in their 20 overs, winning their first IPL title that evening by successfully defending the total  on this field this season.

Yash, Josh, and Romario each claimed one wicket in the winning cause, after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya each claimed two wickets.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final with a disciplined bowling display that held the Bengaluru team to 190/9 in their 20 overs.

After winning the toss, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first. RCB had a rough beginning, losing opener Phil Salt early to Kyle Jamieson for only 16 runs. Mayank Agarwal showed some potential with a quick 24 before getting out to Yuzvendra Chahal. Captain Rajat Patidar also couldn’t make the most of his chance, scoring 26 before becoming Jamieson’s second victim.

In an attempt to increase the pace of scoring, Virat Kohli anchored the innings but found it difficult to accelerate, ultimately falling for 43 to Azmatullah Omarzai. Jitesh Sharma (24) and Liam Livingstone (25) also contributed briefly but were unable to convert their starts. After a strong bowling effort that left RCB at 190 for 9, Arshdeep Singh struck three times in the penultimate over, dismissing Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
