Boeing is trying to collect details following the crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which had 242 passengers on board, just minutes after it took off from Ahmedabad airport, according to a spokesperson for the company.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer shared his deep sorrow about the event. “The images coming from a London-bound flight, which had numerous British citizens on board, crashing in Ahmedabad, India, are heartbreaking”, Mr. Starmer mentioned in a statement.

“I’m getting regular updates as things unfold, and I’m thinking of the passengers and their families during this really tough time”, he mentioned.

U.K. Foreign Secretary David Lammy went on social media to show his support for those impacted.

“I’m really heartbroken to hear about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, India. My thoughts go out to everyone impacted. The U.K. is collaborating with local authorities in India to quickly gather the facts and offer assistance,” he mentioned.

The flight took off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM, carrying a total of 242 passengers and crew on the Boeing 787-8. Among them, there are 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national, and 7 Portuguese nationals.
