Palmeiras rallied from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Inter Miami in front of a lively crowd at Hard Rock Stadium, allowing both teams to move on to the round of 16 in the Club World Cup.

A draw was sufficient to advance both teams to the knockout stage since they came into Monday’s game level on points at the top of Group A, each with four points.

For a period, It seemed like Inter Miami was on track to win the group after they went up 2-0 late in the game, thanks to goals from Tadeo Allende in the 16th minute and the experienced Luis Suarez in the 65th.

The legendary Brazilian team Palmeiras made a comeback, scoring with Paulinho in the 80th minute, followed by Mauricio’s equalizer just a few minutes before the end of regulation.

Messi, who is turning 39 on Tuesday, had several opportunities but couldn’t find the net on Monday, even with the crowd cheering his name throughout the game.
