The javelin throw final at Tokyo 2025 was full of surprises.

Defending world champion Neeraj Chopra got knocked out early, finishing in 8th place with a top throw of 84.03 metres.

India’s Sachin Yadav was so close to snagging a medal at the World Athletics Championships, but he ended up in fourth place.

On the other hand, the current Olympic champion from Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem, could only secure 10th place with a best throw of 82.75m.

Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago clinched the sought after gold medal with a throw of 88.16m.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters secured the silver and Curtis Johnson from the USA took home the bronze, finishing ahead of Yadav.

Neeraj Chopra only needed one throw of 84.85m in the qualifiers to make it to the final, while Nadeem kept fans on the edge of their seats, needing three throws to qualify for today’s final, sparking hopes for an India vs Pakistan javelin throw showdown.
