Egypt is now the third African nation to qualify, joining Morocco and Tunisia.

Mohamed Salah is set to return to the World Cup with Egypt next summer. The Liverpool star netted two goals in a 3-0 win against Djibouti on Wednesday.

It locks in Egypt’s leading position in their African qualifying group with one round remaining.

Ibrahim Adel also found the net for Egypt.

Salah and the Egyptian team participated in the 2018 World Cup, but he was hampered by a shoulder injury from the Champions League final just weeks before, where Liverpool faced off against Real Madrid.

During that tournament, Egypt lost all three of their group matches – to host nation Russia, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia.

Egypt will be one of nine African teams that qualify directly for the World Cup tournament draw happening on December 5 in Washington D.C.

Burkina Faso sits second behind Egypt in Group A after their 1-0 victory over Sierra Leone.

Ethiopia also secured a 1-0 win against Guinea Bissau.

Cape Verde made a comeback from being 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Libya, inching closer to what would be their first ever World Cup qualification.

Cape Verde currently leads Group D by two points over Cameroon, who won 2-0 against Mauritius, with goals from Nicolas Ngamaleu and Bryan Mbeumo.

Ghana’s impressive 5-0 win over the Central African Republic brought the Black Stars closer to qualification, as they now need just one point from their final match.
