India scored a strong 318 runs for 2 wickets during the first day of the second Test against the West Indies on Friday (October 10, 2025).

After missing a big score in the first Test, Jaiswal was determined not to waste this chance, delivering some stunning shots and finishing the day unbeaten on 173 off 253 balls, including 22 boundaries.

Sudharsan also stood out, scoring 87 runs from 163 balls, and played a key role in a second wicket partnership that totaled 193 runs.

The Kotla ground has been lucky for him, as he previously scored a century for Tamil Nadu in his last appearance here.

KL Rahul (38) would be disappointed with his luck. He faced just one delivery from left arm spinner Jomel Warrican that turned and bounced, narrowly missing the edge of his bat.

During the session between lunch and tea, India racked up an impressive 126 runs, leaving the West Indies bowlers in shambles.

The spinners misjudged their lengths, and the pacers struggled with both length and line, serving up too many easy boundary balls.

After scoring 94 in the first session, the two left-handers were aggressive in the first hour after lunch, with boundaries flowing freely from their bats.

At one point, they were scoring at nearly six an over before slowing down a bit in the second hour.

West Indies – ‘Drop Catch’

The only moment in the session when West Indies came close to taking a second wicket was when Justin Greaves rushed Sudharsan with a rising ball as he closed his bat face.

The leading edge soared at a comfortable height towards short mid-wicket where Warrican dropped an easy catch.

Indian Player ‘Aggressive Batting’

The standout shot of the second session was a powerful cut by Sudharsan.

He brought his bat down like a sledgehammer on a wide delivery from Seals, and it sped to the point boundary.

Feeling the heat after the Ahmedabad Test, Sudharsan appeared unfazed by both pacers and spinners as the pitch remained favorable for batting.

Jaiswal, who balanced caution and aggression during the first session, revealed his aggressive side after lunch.

Jaiswal is still not out at 167, marking his fifth score of over 150.

Shubman Gill steps up with strong support towards the end of the day. Even with some disciplined bowling, the West Indies find it hard to keep the pressure on as India ends the day comfortably at 318/2.

IND 318/2 in 90 overs against WI.
