The international friendly football match featuring the reigning World Cup champions, Argentina, with Lionel Messi at the helm, is set to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor, Kochi, Kerala, on November 17, according to a press release from the match sponsors, Reporter Broadcasting Company, dated Tuesday (October 14, 2025).

The Argentine Football Association has officially confirmed the date.

Additionally, the Kerala government has received formal notification about the event, as stated in the release.

When questioned about whether the government had received any official notice, Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman confirmed that the sponsors had indeed verified it.

Anto Augustine, managing director of Reporter Broadcasting Company, mentioned that fans will have the chance to see Lionel Messi and his team during a training session the day before the match.

The release also mentioned that an A.R. Rahman musical concert and a performance by rapper Hanumankind are scheduled for November 16, along with drone shows.

The sponsors reported that preparations at the stadium are advancing with an investment of ₹70 crore.

The entire venue is undergoing renovations to comply with FIFA standards and to offer top notch facilities.

New seating is being installed throughout the stadium, and high-intensity, international-grade lighting systems are being implemented.

The upgraded venue will feature prominent VIP galleries and pavilions.

The ticket prices for the match will be revealed officially in the next couple of days.
