The UP government is now preparing for the upcoming Dev Deepawali and Ganga Mahotsav celebrations, set to take place in Varanasi starting this weekend.

Dev Deepawali, which is celebrated along the banks of the Ganga, will kick off on November 3 and wrap up on November 5.

The Ganga Mahotsav, showcasing local artists through music and dance, is scheduled from November 1 to 4.

Arrangements for the celebrations in Varanasi are underway, featuring a spectacular fireworks display, 3D projection mapping, and a laser show, with a goal of lighting up 25 lakh diyas.

Dev Deepawali

Dev Deepawali, known as the Diwali of the Gods, is celebrated on the full moon night of the Karthik month, also referred to as ‘Karthik Poornima’.

They expect 10 lakh attendees in Varanasi for this year’s Dev Deepawali celebrations.

After the impressive Deepotsav in Ayodhya, all eyes are now on Kashi.

The planned 25-minute laser shows at Chet Singh Ghat and Ganga Dwar will illustrate stories and folklore about Goddess Ganga, Lord Shiva, Kashi, and the significance of Dev Deepawali.

The computer-controlled fireworks display will last for 10 minutes and will soar to heights of 200 meters.

This year’s standout feature is the choreographed aerial green firecracker show, which is being curated for the first time in Varanasi.

This 10-minute show will be computer controlled and synchronized with music and laser effects, ensuring a seamless experience without any “dark sky” interruptions.

Only eco-friendly green crackers will be utilized. The entire display will be digital to reduce smoke, sound, and residue.

There are six shows scheduled between November 4 and 5 to cater to bigger crowds.
