India finished their Deaflympics shooting journey with an impressive total of 16 medals.

Chetan Hanmant Sapkal placed sixth in the men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol event in Tokyo on Tuesday (November 25, 2025).

Chetan, who made it to the finals in third place with a score of 564-5x, was the first to be knocked out in the six-man final, finishing with a score of eight.

Gold went to South Korea’s Seung Hwa Lee, while his teammate Tae Young Kim took home the bronze, and Ukraine’s Serhii Ohorodnyk earned the silver.

Mahit Sandhu, a riflewoman who won four medals – two gold and two silver – was the standout shooter.

Pistol shooters Abhinav Deshwal and Pranjali Prashant Dhumal, who each took home two gold and one silver medal, trailed her.

Dhanush Srikanth also achieved two gold medals in the 10m air rifle individual and mixed team events.

Mohammed Murtaza Vania (one silver and one bronze) and Komal Milind Waghmare (two bronze) each secured two medals as well.

Anuya Prasad won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event, Shourya Saini took silver in the 50m 3 positions, and Kushagra Singh Rajawat earned bronze in the 50m rifle prone event.

The Indian team excelled at the shooting ranges in Tokyo, clinching 16 out of the 39 total medals in this discipline over 10 days of competition, which included seven gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.
