The Indian men’s basketball team is aiming to steer clear of a third consecutive competitive loss against Saudi Arabia when they clash in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers Group D match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium this Sunday.

India is also on the hunt for its first-ever victory against the Middle Eastern nation, having been defeated in all six prior encounters, including their opening qualifying match where they lost 51-75 on Thursday(November 27,2025).

Out of 71 field goal attempts (not counting free throws), India only managed to score 19 times, while their opponents hit 28 out of 56 attempts.

India will only have two spots to compete for, as they are grouped with host Qatar, which will automatically qualify regardless of their performance in the six matches.Three teams from each of the four groups are scheduled to advance to the second round of qualifiers.
