Major tech companies like Google, OpenAI, Perplexity, and others introduced AI-powered browsers or integrated their chatbots into already-existing ones this year.

However, in a surprising twist, the Chrome team at Google introduced a new Gemini 3-powered browser named Disco, which they claim is “crafted to rethink browsing and development for the contemporary web”.

Google Disco uses a feature called GenTabs, which takes a query or prompt as input, opens relevant tabs, and creates a customized application for the task at hand.

For example, if you request travel advice from Disco, it will automatically generate a planner app. This can also be beneficial for students studying a specific topic.

GenTabs will create an app that visualizes the information and aids in grasping the concept.

Google mentions that once Disco creates an app, it can be adjusted using natural language prompts, and GenTabs will also reference the original source.

Google states that those interested in trying out Disco will need to sign up for the waitlist on the Google Labs page, and the app is currently only available on macOS.

The tech giant adds that while concepts from Disco may eventually be incorporated into other Google products, it is currently unclear if Disco will be available to the general public.
