Sophie Devine’s calm all-around performance helped Gujarat Giants defeat UP Warriorz by 45 runs.

Match Summary

Earlier in the match, UP warriorz won the toss and chose to bowl first against Gujarat Giants during match 14 of the Women’s Premier League at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on Thursday(January 22,2026).

In the first innings, Sophie Devine scored 50 off 42 balls and Beth Mooney added 38 off 34, helping Gujarat Giants reach a total of 153/8 in their 20 overs against UP Warriorz.

Pacer Kranti Gaud and spinner Sophie Ecclestone each claimed two wickets for UPW, while Deepti Sharma and Chloe Tryon each dismissed one GG batter to the pavilion.

UP Warriorz’s chase got off to a rough start when Kiran Navgire continued her poor form, getting out for a golden duck in the first over.

Captain Meg Lanning followed soon after, scoring just 14, which left the home team struggling during the powerplay.

Phoebe Litchfield tried to hold things together with a quick 32, but the innings fell apart when Ashleigh Gardner took her wicket, leading to a series of quick dismissals.

Harleen Deol and Deepti Sharma also found it tough to make a mark, putting Gujarat firmly in charge.

Gujarat Giants bowler Rajeshwari Gayakwad took three wickets. She is taking out crucial middle-order batsmen in no time.

Devine also made her mark with the ball, picking up 2 wickets, while Renuka Singh added two wickets to the tally.

Together, the Giants bowled UP Warriorz out for just 108 in 17.3 overs, demonstrating excellent strategy and teamwork.

With this win, Gujarat Giants are now second in the WPL standings, behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
