Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson announced his retirement from professional cricket on Tuesday(January 27,2026).
Known for his yorkers and sharp bowling in death overs, Kane Richardson played 25 One Day Internationals and 36 T20 Internationals for Australia.
Career
Richardson made his ODI debut for Australia in January 2013 against Sri Lanka in Adelaide.
Richardson took 39 wickets for Australia during his seven years in the ODI squad.
His best bowling effort came in January 2016, when he claimed five for 68 in a match-winning effort against India.
He was also a part of 2019 ODI World Cup Australia team.
He made his last T20I appearance in November 2023, following his debut in October 2014.
In the shortest format of the game, he picked up 49 wickets in 36 matches, with best bowling figures of four for 30 against Sri Lanka in June 2022.
Though Richardson’s career was riddled with injuries, he played in T20 leagues all across the globe.
Richardson is set to retire as one of the most prolific wicket-takers in Australia’s top franchise cricket league, Big Bash League, with 142 dismissals in 15 seasons.
He has also competed in the Indian Premier League, The Hundred and ILT20 throughout his career.
