India was unable to keep up with Shivam Dube, who went completely crazy towards the end, hitting 65 off just 23 balls. India’s hopes of winning a clean sweep are over.
With one game left, the series is currently 3-1.
Match Summary
Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first against Mitchell Santner in the 4th match at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday (January 28, 2026).
Earlier, New Zealand got off to a great start, with Tim Seifert scoring 62 off 36 balls and Devon Conway contributing 44 off 23, putting together 100 runs in just 8.2 overs.
However, the Indian bowlers managed to rein things in a bit during the last 10 overs, with Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav each taking two wickets.
Daryl Mitchell added some late fireworks with a quick 39 off 18 balls.
New Zealand set a target of 215 for seven wickets in their 20 overs.
While chasing a target of 216, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on the very first ball, and Suryakumar Yadav followed suit in the second over.
Hardik Pandya, and Sanju Samson didn’t last long either. By the 11th over, India was struggling at 82 for 5, and honestly, it looked like the match was already over.
That’s when Shivam Dube stepped in. He didn’t just swing the bat -he went on a full-blown attack, reaching his fifty in just 15 balls. One of the quickest ever for India in T20Is.

Dube sent seven balls flying over the boundary, most of them off Ish Sodhi, and for a moment, the crowd in Vizag really started to believe.
But then, the heartbreak hit. In the 15th over, Dube got run out in the most unfortunate way- a straight drive from Harshit Rana deflected off Matt Henry’s hand and hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Dube was short, out for 65, and with him went India’s last real shot.
After that, India collapsed for 165 in 18.4 overs. Mitchell Santner led the Kiwi bowlers with 3 for 28.
India has already secured the series. Now, both teams are heading into the final T20I.
