India dominated Pakistan, winning by 61 runs and sealing their place in the Super 8s.

India and Pakistan faced off in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2026 on Sunday (February 15, 2026), at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Match Summary

India made a couple of changes to their lineup, bringing in Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav to replace Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh. Pakistan, on the other hand, kept their same XI.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Batting first, opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 0 runs (a duck). Pakistan’s Salman Agha took his wicket, giving Pakistan an early breakthrough.

Ishan Kishan really shone for India, smashing 77 runs off just 40 balls, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. His explosive performance laid the groundwork for India’s total and played a key role in tackling Pakistan’s bowling.

However, Saim Ayub turned things around for Pakistan, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs.

Tilak (25 runs off 24 balls) and Hardik Pandya (0) were dismissed on back-to-back balls, causing India to drop from 126 for two to 126 for four in just the 15th over.

Suryakumar Yadav then made 32 off 29 balls, while Shivam Dube added a brisk 27 off 17 to steady the innings. India eventually posted a competitive total of 175/6.

Chasing 176 runs, Pakistan got off to a shaky beginning, losing three quick wickets right away—with Sahibzada Farhan going out for a duck—leaving them at about 20-3 in the first few overs of their innings.

A few batters, including captain Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, tried to steady the chase and build partnerships, but Pakistan failed to convert their efforts into meaningful stands.

Usman Khan was the top scorer for Pakistan, making 44 off 34 balls. The rest of the batting line-up failed to build any significant partnerships, and Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in the 18th over.

India delivered a dominant performance with both bat and ball to defeat Pakistan by 61 runs. With this victory, India officially secured their place in the Super 8s.
