After defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match on Sunday (September 21, 2025).

Indian Captain Surya Kumar Yadav called on everyone to stop referring to the matches between the two countries as a significant “rivalry”.

When a senior journalist from Pakistan asked if the gap in quality between the two teams had widened too much, Suryakumar replied with a grin, “Sir, I kindly ask that we stop labeling India vs Pakistan matches as a rivalry”.

When the journalist clarified that he meant “standards, not rivalry”, the Indian captain casually responded.

“Sir, rivalry and standards are essentially the same. What defines a rivalry? If two teams have played 15 matches and the score is 8-7, that’s a rivalry. Here it’s 13-1 (12-3) or something like that. There’s no real competition”, he said before leaving the media conference room with a smile.
