India hit a major milestone on Saturday(October 4,2025) in Ahmedabad by winning the first Test against the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs.

The win at the Narendra Modi Stadium marked India’s 921st victory in international men’s cricket, placing them on par with England, who participated in the very first international match back in 1877.

55 years before India had their inaugural game at the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground in London in 1932.

It took India almost 20 years and 25 matches to secure their first Test victory in 1952, in Chennai.

Last year, India achieved a win-loss ratio of 1 (equal wins and losses) for the very first time in history.

India also reached the milestone of 921 wins faster than England, who needed 102 more games than the Asian giants.

With an impressive 1157 wins from 2108 matches across all formats, Australia remains at the top of the leaderboard.

In Tests, India (183) currently sits fifth, trailing behind Australia (422), England (403), South Africa (188), and the Windies (185) in terms of wins.

In ODIs, India has played the highest number of matches (1066), with their 567 victories ranking second only to Australia’s 615 wins.

India tops the T20I team rankings with an incredible 170 wins out of just 254 matches.

India also shares the record for the most titles at the men’s T20 World Cup, having won it twice in 2007 and 2024.

India recently demonstrated their dominance in the region by winning the Asia Cup title for the ninth time, achieving seven consecutive victories.
