Passengers using suburban(local) trains or traveling in the General class need to have an unreserved ticket.

These tickets can be booked both online and offline.

For offline bookings, travelers should head to PRS counters at railway stations or Yatri Suvidha Kendras, which are available at various stations during busy times.

For online bookings, unreserved tickets can be bought via the UTS and RailOne mobile apps.

On Friday(December 19,2025), the railways made it clear that anyone who books a physical unreserved ticket, whether online or offline, must have the physical ticket with them during their journey.

However, if you have a digital unreserved ticket booked online without a printed version, you can simply show the ticket on the same mobile device used for the booking for verification.

The Ministry of Railways has implemented several measures to combat fake user IDs to ensure a smooth and hassle-free train ticket booking experience.

This initiative is aimed at reforming the ticketing system so that all passengers can easily book tickets using authentic and verified user IDs.
