India’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made headlines by setting a massive world record with his first U-19 World Cup century, scoring it in just 55 balls during the final against England U-19 at the Harare Sports Club on Friday(February 6,2026).

As India aimed for a record-extending sixth title, Sooryavanshi opened the batting and maintained his aggressive form, notching up another quick half-century in just 32 balls.

Partnering with his captain, Ayush Mhatre, the left-handed Sooryavanshi gradually unleashed his powerful shots, hitting five sixes by the time he reached 70 runs off only 40 balls.

He became the first player in Under-19 ODI cricket to reach 100 sixes with his fifth six, a forceful slog over the ground.

Surprisingly, Zawad Abrar of Bangladesh(55 sixes) is the only other player with more than 50 sixes in Youth ODIs.

Sooryavanshi now boasts three centuries in under 60 deliveries in Youth ODI cricket, the highest for any player in this format.

Incredible performance, with an almost unbelievable strike rate nearing 220. His experience at the highest level showed through. 411-9 is a total surely out of England’s reach. If some of the middle order had played with more focus the final total would have been 450 plus. They pretty much all threw their wickets away with shots that weren’t on to those deliveries. Amazing hitting at the end by Khanishk as well to take them above 400.
