On Monday, June 2, 2025, A special guest Baby Robot greeted students at the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls in Nadakkavu, Kozhikode city, marking the first day of the academic year.

iPAL, a robot developed and constructed by the students of Nilgiri College of Arts and Science in Tamil Nadu, made the ‘Praveshanolsavam’, the event celebrating the first day, an unforgettable experience. The students gathered around the robot, eager to check out how it operates.

The district-level event ‘Praveshanolsavam’ took place at the Government Higher Secondary School in Peringolam. In his opening remarks, Minister for Public Works P.A. Mohamed Riyas stated that this year’s curriculum in schools would emphasize humanism and civic responsibility. There will be sessions dedicated to this focus over the next two weeks. Additionally, Zumba dance practice will be incorporated into the curriculum to promote students’ physical fitness and mental well-being. The ongoing initiative against substance abuse will be further reinforced. Furthermore, a project aimed at enhancing the quality of education is also being implemented this year. Among those present were P.T.A. Rahim, MLA, and Sheeja Sasi, the president of the Kozhikode district panchayat.

This year, approximately 60,000 new students have applied for admission to government and aided schools within the district. Officials from the education department asserted that nearly 99% of the textbooks have been distributed.
