Wimbledon has set a new record for prize money, reaching £53.5 million (around $73 million), with each singles champion taking home £3 million ($4 million), as announced by All England Club officials on Thursday.

The total sum is £3.5 million ($6.8 million) higher than last year, marking a 7% increase — which is exactly double the amount given to competitors at the grass-court Grand Slam a decade ago.

The checks for the 2025 winners show an 11.1% increase compared to last year’s awards for both the men’s and women’s singles champions, and this comes as players are increasingly asking for a larger portion of the grand slam earnings.

Players who get knocked out in the first round of singles will receive 66,000 pounds, which is a 10% increase from last year.

Wimbledon starts on June 30 and goes until July 13. This year, for the first time in the history of the oldest Grand Slam, electronic line-calling will take the place of line judges.
