Trump claims that after a lengthy night of negotiations, India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire.
India – Pakistan Ceasefire : Following three days of gunfire following Operation Sindoor, the United States announced that India and Pakistan would begin discussions on a wide range of topics at a neutral location.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said India and Pakistan have agreed to a “Complete and prompt cessation of hostilities” after mediation by America, bringing a halt to three days of heavy exchange of fire. Confirming the development, India said the Pakistani DGMO called his Indian counterpart and agreed to a ceasefire from 5 pm.

Following the destruction of six air bases in the neighboring country by the armed forces, India announced that Pakistan was relocating its soldiers to forward locations along the International Border. Following Pakistan’s early-morning Saturday targeting on 26 military installations and civilian infrastructure, India took action.
I’m happy to report that India and Pakistan have reached an agreement to a complete and immediate ceasefire following a long night of negotiations facilitated by the US. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Congratulations to both nations for applying great intelligence and common sense.”
US Vice President JD Vance also reposted the tweet, reiterating his prior statement that America will not intervene in a conflict that is “It’s basically none of our concern”.
DIALED INDIA, PAKISTAN
Speaking to the media, however, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the ceasefire was negotiated directly between the two nations and made no reference to US mediation proceedings. May 12 is the date of the upcoming negotiations with Pakistan.
“This afternoon, the Director General of Military DGMO of India and Pakistan spoke over the phone. They reached a consensus that, starting at 5 p.m.Both sides will cease all air, sea, and land-based military operations and firing “, Misri added.
“Peace and security” in the region has always been a priority for the government, according to Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
“India and Pakistan have decided to implement a ceasefire immediately. Dar tweeted, “Pakistan has consistently worked to promote regional peace and security while maintaining its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
In an effort to defuse the situation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has taken the lead in interacting with the leaders of both countries, claimed that he and JD Vance chatted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his colleague Shehbaz Sharif during the last 48 hours.

“JD Vance and I have met with high-ranking Indian and Pakistani officials over the last 48 hours, including Prime Ministers Shehbaz Sharif and Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Army Staff Chief Asim Munir, and National Security Advisers Ajit Doval and Asim Malik”, Rubio posted on Twitter.
India and Pakistan have reached an agreement to immediately halt hostilities and begin neutral negotiations on a wide range of topics. We applaud Prime Ministers Sharif and Modi for their wise, prudent, and statesmanlike decision to pursue peace,” he added.
However, India denied Rubio’s claims, claiming that “no decision” had been made to have any more talks at “any other place.”
On the day that India attacked drone launchpad sites and bombed six of Pakistan’s air bases, the DGMO of Pakistan made the call.
OPERATION SINDOOR AND FIRE EXCHANGE
In response, India launched ‘Operation Bunyan-al-Marsoos’ (unbreakable wall), using drones and missiles to target 26 targets in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
Following the military’s “Sindoor” operation, which destroyed nine terror facilities associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Pakistan launched a swarm of drone attacks on India’s border states for the second day in a row.
The operation, which killed more than 100 terrorists, was a reaction to the horrifying Pahalgam terror incident, which killed a Kashmiri resident and 25 visitors.
