Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a video on Saturday that featured the highlights of his trip to Jammu and Kashmir the day before, during which he officially opened the Anji Bridge and the Chenab Rail Bridge, the tallest railway bridge in the world.

Following the official ceremony, PM Modi crossed the bridge while carried the national flag, signifying India’s engineering brilliance and sense of patriotism. He shared on X, writing, “Significance of a memorable trip to Jammu and Kashmir”. Projects like the Anji Bridge and the Chenab Rail Bridge are revolutionary.

The Prime Minister also announced the opening of the Vande Bharat train line, which runs from Katra in Jammu to Srinagar in Kashmir, during his visit.

Standing 359 meters above the river and taller than the Eiffel Tower, the Chenab Bridge is an essential piece of infrastructure that ensures year-round access by filling a long-standing gap in train connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India.

The rail arch bridge, situated in the Reasi district, is a superb illustration of an engineering masterpiece. Following the inauguration, PM Modi spoke with the engineers and laborers who constructed the bridge in the face of severe weather and difficult terrain and toured a photo display highlighting the technical difficulties faced during construction.

Another important component of the Udhampur-Srinagar- Baramulla rail link is the Anji Bridge, which spans the Chenab River.Additionally noteworthy was the Prime Minister’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead.
