In just a few weeks, Apple is set to unveil the newest version of the iPhone. This lineup will feature the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The tech powerhouse is likely to introduce a brand new model that’s super sleek, known as the iPhone 17 Air.

Apple’s launch event in September will also showcase the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra, which is said to have a larger display than ever before. These new models might be released alongside the Apple Watch SE 3rd generation and the Apple AirPods Pro 3 as well.

When is the iPhone 17 set to launch?

Apple usually hosts a launch event every September to reveal its newest iPhone and Apple Watch models. This event often features a keynote speech. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the keynote has been pre-recorded and presented to guests at the 1,000-seat Steve Jobs Theater located at Apple Park, the company’s headquarters in Cupertino.

Additionally, it is streamed live on Apple’s official website and social media platforms.

It’s still up in the air if this year’s keynote will signal Apple’s comeback to live, in-person events.

Regarding the date and timing, there’s been a lot of buzz suggesting that the keynote might take place at 10 am PT (which is 10:30 pm in India) on September 9. But, Apple is likely to officially announce the event date in the next few weeks.

Typically, pre orders start on the Friday after the keynote. So, if the rumors about the September 9 launch are true, pre-orders for the iPhone 17 series could begin on September 12. Just a heads up, not all iPhone models might be available for pre-order at the same time. This has happened before when new iPhone categories were introduced.

GPT-5 and Apple Intelligence

With OpenAI’s recent launch of GPT-5 and the upcoming iPhone 17, people are starting to wonder when they’ll be able to access GPT-5 through Apple Intelligence.

Right now, using ChatGPT via Apple Intelligence is optional. It’s available on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and the newer visionOS 2.

This version of ChatGPT runs on OpenAI’s GPT-4o model.

After the rollout of GPT-5 last week, 9to5 Mac reported that the ChatGPT integration in Apple Intelligence will switch to GPT-5 with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. According to the report, this will be “happening rather soon”.

Apple also revealed that it’s making its on device foundational AI model available to developers who want to create apps and features using the same tech that powers Apple Intelligence.
