Instagram has rolled out a cool new feature that lets content creators connect several reels into a ‘series’.

Meta has decided to add this feature to Instagram, thanks to insights and feedback from users.

This also helps the audience follow the series more easily without having to scroll through the content creator’s feed.

Content creators have the ability to connect one reel to another based on context, topic, and theme by using the linking feature.

You can include linked reels in both new reels and those that you’ve already shared with your friends and followers.

However, reels meant for close friends or subscribers only can’t be linked.

How do you link a reel?

  • Select the reel you want to link. Keep in mind that you can only choose one reel at a time.
  • Next, give your linked reel a title. This title will only show up for the reel it’s linked to.
  • You can change or remove the title whenever you want. If you don’t provide a title, it will automatically be labeled as “Linked reel”.
  • Just a heads up – the title needs to be more than 15 characters long.
  • Hit OK, then click “Share”.

How to connect a reel that’s already been shared

  • Just tap on the right side of your reel.
  • If there’s no linked reel yet, hit Add linked reel. If there’s already one linked, just tap on Edit linked reel.

How to modify a linked reel

  • After selecting your linked reel, you’ll see a screen that says “Edit linked reel”.
  • To choose a different linked reel, tap Change reel below. Edit linked reel.
  • To unlink a reel, just tap Unlink under Edit connected reel.
  • Press Unlink again to confirm.

When you’re making your connected reel, you can choose to edit or unlink it.

Reels that have been unlinked won’t show up on the original reel they were linked to.
