Sinner securing his spot in the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows.

Defending U.S. Open champ Jannik Sinner kept his amazing streak going at the hard court Grand Slams with a dominating 6-1 6-1 6-1 victory over Kazakh 23rd seed Alexander Bublik on Monday (September 1, 2025).

The Italian entered the evening match on Labour Day at Arthur Ashe Stadium aiming for his 25th consecutive major match victory on his favorite surface.

He seemed completely unfazed by a challenging opponent after starting strong.

He had a challenging match last time, wrapping up late. He wasn’t serving as well as usual. I managed to break him in every set, which boosted my confidence to play well.

A double break allowed Sinner to jump to a 4-0 lead before Bublik could score any points, and the impressive 24 year old sprinted to retrieve a drop shot, smashing a deep backhand winner that secured the first set with yet another break.

Bublik’s efforts to throw Sinner off his game with drop shots didn’t work out, but it was his service mistakes that put him down by two sets.

After that, Sinner cruised to his eighth consecutive major quarter final.

Next up for Sinner is a match against fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, and he mentioned that it would be an exciting moment for Italian tennis.

“It’s awesome to see. Italian tennis is really thriving. We have a ton of players with various playing styles”, he shared.

Lorenzo is one of the top talents we have in our sport. I’m really looking forward to this match. From an Italian perspective, it’s fantastic to have at least one Italian player in the semis.

I know there are plenty of Italian fans in the stands. It really adds to the experience.

“It was my first night session match, and it really makes a difference. Thanks to everyone for showing up,this is a really special moment for us players”, sinner added.
