Talented archer Rishabh Yadav played a key role as India made it to the finals in both the men’s and mixed team events.

He securing two medals on the first day of the World Archery Championships in Gwangju, Korea, this Saturday.

Rishabh scored 709 points, securing the eighth position in the qualification round.

He teamed up with Aman Saini and Prathamesh Fuge to lead the second ranked Indian men’s team past Australia with a score of 232-232 (shoot off: 30-28), the USA at 234-233, and Turkey at 234-232, setting up a title match against France.

The young player teamed up with the experienced V. Jyothi Surekha, the highest ranked Indian woman in compound archery who scored 707 points to secure third place.

Together, they helped the fourth seeded Indian mixed team beat Germany 160-152, El Salvador 157-153, and Chinese Taipei 157-155, setting up a final match against the Netherlands.

Results

Qualification – Individual:

Men: Rishabh Yadav (eighth, 709), Aman Saini (15th, 707), Prathamesh Fuge (19th, 706); Women: V. Jyothi Surekha (third, 707), Parneet Kaur (11th, 703), Prithika Pradeep (44th, 690).

India received a bye in the first round, tied with Australia 232-232, and won in the shoot off 30-28 in the second round.

Then beat the USA 234-233 in the quarterfinals, and finally triumphed over Turkey 234-232 in the semifinals.

Women: India received a bye in the first round. The defending champions India, featuring Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and Prithika Pradeep, were defeated by Italy with a score of 229-233 in the second round, leading to an early exit.

Mixed: India had a bye in the first round, beat Germany 160-152 in the second round.

Then defeated El Salvador 157-153 in the quarterfinals, and won against Chinese Taipei 157-155 in the semifinals.
