Tamil Actor Ajith Kumar has spoken out about the Karur stampede that resulted in 39 fatalities.

The rally, organized by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and led by party president and thalapathy Vijay, took place on September 27, 2025.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ajith remarked that people today have become fixated on gathering crowds to showcase their influence.

Most of the victims from this tragic event were aged between 18 and 30.

Ajith Kumar, An Actor, Said

Ajith mentioned that his peer Vijay isn’t solely to blame for what happened. “That individual alone isn’t responsible. We are all responsible, including the media,” he stated.

He added,”You see crowds at cricket matches, but you don’t witness such incidents there. Why does it only happen with film personalities? These events cast a negative shadow on the film industry”.

Ajith also shared, “Of course, we crave the affection of the public. That’s our motivation. We put in long hours on set, endure physical strain, sacrifice sleep, fight depression, and stay away from our families for the love of our fans. But we don’t want these kinds of tragedies”.

He labeled the stampede as “a collective failure”.

He added,”We are all to blame for this, myself included”.

He underlined that it is not appropriate to encourage the practice of attracting sizable crowds. There are more effective ways to express love. First-day-first-shows (FDFS) are not something that should be promoted by the media. With 1.4 billion people, it’s simple to get a crowd together.

The President Of TVK Says

Vijay responded to the incident by saying that he had never faced a situation as heartbreaking as the one in Karur.

He also mentioned that if Chief Minister M.K. Stalin wanted to “take revenge”, it should be aimed at him and not at his party members.
