Perplexity users might soon get the chance to use its popular agentic AI browser, Comet, on their Android devices.

Perplexity offers a unique web browsing experience focused on generative AI in an effort to draw users away from Chrome.

Perplexity’s Comet

Perplexity’s Comet provides a distinctive generative AI experience that allows users to directly ask questions about the topics they’re viewing, among other use cases.

The AI search engine startup has reportedly begun sending invites to a select group of users, who will be able to try out the Android version of the browser.

At first, Comet was only available to certain Windows and Mac users on an invite-only basis. But later, Perplexity opened up the browser to a wider audience.

The Way To Get This Browser

If you want to be one of the first Android users to test the Comet browser, head over to the Google Play Store or the Comet browser website to register.

However, it seems that Perplexity’s paid customers and regular users of the AI-powered search engine will have priority for the invites.

Last week, Perplexity revealed that it has “completely reimagined” Comet Assistant.

The AI browser agent has been enhanced with several new features and capabilities, such as the ability to function across multiple tabs, assist users in job searches, and help them find the best travel deals, etc.

“Comet Android early invites are going out. If you want to boost your chances for early access and influence the future of mobile browsing – it all hinges on your Perplexity Android usage and Pro/Max user status! More invites will be sent out soon”, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas shared in a post on X.

ChatGPT Atlas

Last month, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Atlas, entering the increasingly competitive AI browser market.

Similar to comet, ChatGPT Atlas has an AI agent integrated into the system that can be used to manage a number of tasks for users, like scheduling appointments or events while they browse.
