A typical Super 500 Sydney spring semifinal is transformed into what feels like a cinematic masterpiece by players like Lakshya Sen and Chou Tien Chen, each more determined than the other.

India’s star shuttler Lakshya Sen took down Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in an amazing semifinal to move on to the Australian Open Super 500 final on Saturday(November 22,2025) at Sydney Olympic Park.

Match Summary

Sen came back from a game down to beat second seed Chen 17-21, 24-22, 21-16 in just one hour and 26 minutes.

Sen, who is still in pursuit of his first title this season, started the match under pressure as Chen jumped to an early 4-0 lead and went into the break with a score of 11-6.

The Indian player tried to close the gap, but Chen secured the game 21-17.

The second game featured an intense showdown between the two players right from the start. They exchanged the lead briefly, but Sen demonstrated his skill in a high-pressure moment, scoring two consecutive points at 22-22 to clinch the game.

In the final game, Sen quickly took charge, going into the mid-game break with an 11-6 lead.

He extended his advantage to 14-7, and a service error from Chen increased the gap to 17-9. A precise cross-court smash then gave Sen eight match points.

Although Chen saved four of those, he ultimately hit a shot into the net, allowing Sen to secure a solid comeback victory.

Sen is the only Indian player remaining in the tournament after he defeated a determined Ayush Shetty in straight games to reach the semifinals on Friday(November 21,2025).

In men’s doubles, top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the quarterfinals with an easy win over Su Ching Heng and Wu Guan Xun from Chinese Taipei.

They were eliminated by fifth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri from Indonesia with scores of 19-21, 15-21.
