South Africa defeated India in the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, successfully chasing a target of 359 and winning by 4 wickets.

Earlier, Kohli’s back-to-back hundreds, Gaikwad’s first century (105), and KL Rahul’s quick 66 not out helped India reach a strong total of 358/5.
Chasing a target of 359, South Africa relied on an outstanding century from Aiden Markram (110), a fierce 34-ball 54 (1x4s, 5x6s) from Dewald Brevis, and Matthew Breetzke’s 68 to successfully cross the finish line in yet another strong batting display.
Markram was in his element, taking advantage of a flat pitch under the lights to score his first century against India, making a significant contribution from the top to help South Africa push forward.
He took charge in the opening partnership, and even though he lost Quinton de Kock (8) early with Arshdeep striking first.
Markram found a solid partner in Bavuma, putting together 101 runs for the second wicket.
Markram eventually got out to a short off-cutter from Harshit Rana (1/70), but his wicket brought Brevis and Breetzke together, who then cruised to 92 off just 64 balls, putting South Africa firmly in charge.
Prasidh, who had earlier broken a second-wicket century partnership by getting rid of Temba Bavuma (46), finally got it right by trapping Breetzke leg-before late in the match.
Shortly after, Arshdeep Singh (2/54) took out the dangerous Marco Jansen (2), but Corbin Bosch (29 not out off 15) and Keshav Maharaj (10 not out off 14) guided the Proteas to victory with four balls remaining(362/6 – 49.2overs).
Interestingly, this was only the second time India lost an ODI after scoring over 350 runs, the first being against Australia in March 2019, where they also lost by four wickets despite posting 358/9 at Mohali.
The series-deciding third and final ODI is set to take place in Visakhapatnam on Saturday(December 6,2025).
