Match Summary

MI won the toss and decided to bowl first.

After batting first, UPW set a formidable score of 187/8, thanks to half-centuries from Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield.

Even after losing opener Kiran Navgire for a duck, they took control of the innings with Lanning and Litchfield’s impressive 119-run partnership off just 74 balls.

Meg Lanning was the star of the show, scoring 70 runs off 45 balls, while Phoebe Litchfield contributed 61 runs from 37 balls.

Amanjot ended the partnership by taking out the left-handed Litchfield.

In the following over, Matthews got Lanning out, slowing down the Warriorz’s innings.

Still, Harleen Deol and Chloe Tyron stepped up with some rapid cameos, helping them reach a total that turned out to be sufficient.

The Warriors reach 187 for eight.

The Mumbai Indians struggled throughout their chase, losing their first five wickets for just 69 runs in 11 overs.

As the defending champions faced a significant defeat with none of the top-order batsmen stepping up, Kerr (49 not out from 28 balls) and Amanjot (41 from 24 balls) brought some excitement to the game, capitalizing on their chances.

Amelia Kerr and Amanjot Kaur fought hard, putting together an 83-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

However, Shikha Pandey bowled a tight spell towards the end and broke the partnership with a sharp return catch to dismiss Amanjot, leaving Mumbai short in the end.

Mumbai made another change to their opening pair, opting for Hayley Matthews and Sajeevan Sajana.

Unfortunately, this strategy backfired as their partnership lasted less than three overs, and the home team struggled during the PowerPlay.

It was a disappointing day for both Harmanpreet Kaur and Nicola Carey, who couldn’t make an impact.

The Warriorz were dominant in all aspects of the game.

Mumbai dropped several catches, allowing the duo to secure their gritty fifties.

The  Mumbai Indians lost to the UP Warriorz by 22 runs for the second time in three days during a Women’s Premier League match.
