Two survivors of plane crashes, almost three decades apart, both occupied seat 11A. The first incident took place in Thailand in 1998, while the second occurred in India in 2025, and both individuals escaped what seemed like certain death.

Thai singer Ruangsak James Loychusak, who is now 47, survived the 1998 Thai Airways plane crash that took the lives of 101 individuals. He has shared his experience of survival and mentioned a strange coincidence. He was seated in 11A, the identical seat as the sole survivor of the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

Ruangsak was aboard flight TG261, which went down in a swamp during its landing in Surat Thani. Just 45 people made it out alive. He mentioned feeling goosebumps when he noticed the seat number of Ramesh Viswashkumar, the only survivor from the Air India crash.

“The only person who made it out of the plane crash in India was in the same seat as I was, 11A. Gave me goosebumps”, Loychusak posted on Facebook.

Ruangsak mentioned that the accident caused him deep trauma. For a decade, he was scared of flying, avoided people, and felt anxious whenever he saw clouds.

Ruangsak said, “I avoided engaging conversation with anyone and just gazed out the window, preventing anyone from shutting it in order to preserve my feeling of security.Whenever I spotted dark clouds or a rainstorm, it felt awful, like I was trapped in hell”.

“I can still recall the sounds, scents, and even the flavor of the water in the swamp where the plane went down. For a long while, I kept those feelings to myself”, he mentioned.

Ramesh Viswashkumar Boarding Pass

Even though he doesn’t have his old boarding pass anymore, reports from the newspaper confirmed his seat number. He expressed his sympathies to everyone who lost loved ones in the recent tragedy and mentioned that surviving felt like a ‘second life’.

Social media reactions the singer’s friends on Facebook shared their thoughts on his post.

“I clearly remember the day I came to see you at the hospital. I was right in front of the glass room and saw you with tubes all over, looking like you were either asleep or unconscious. After visiting you, I had to hurry to catch my next flight to Surat Thani. I was really frightened at that moment”, one friend wrote.

The incredible event on seat 11A has amazed everyone and caught worldwide attention. Positioned by the emergency exit, Ramesh was ejected from the plane upon impact and, despite suffering several injuries, was able to walk away from the debris and into a waiting ambulance.

My blessings to the two survivors of these eerily similar airline crashed. Posting from BOEING city, SEA & country, I’ll share the following; All who are into aviation may want to know that TG261 was an Airbus A310-204 capacity up to 140+ passengers. Air India 171 was a (11-year-old) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 230+12 crew members. Not sure how much of a difference it would make in the cabin space between an Airbus and Boeing, but exit seats seem to stand out as safer. Though keep in mind not all are accepted to be assigned to exit rows). Sole AI survivor was (documented with a boarding pass) seated exit seat 11A. Way I look at it, ‘When Your Number is UP” seat numbers can help. Dee Tezelli, author on Amazon and former airline agent.
