England has secured victory in the final Youth ODI, defeating India U19 by seven wickets, thanks to some outstanding performances from Ben Mayes (who finished not out on 82), Ben Dawkins (66 off 53 balls), and captain Thomas Rew (not out on 49). With the help of these three, England successfully chased down India’s target of 211 in only 31.1 overs.

Before Mayes and Rew secured the victory for England, there were some tense moments for the home team after they lost two quick wickets. Dawkins first threw away his wicket after hitting a solid 66 off 53 balls, and then Rocky Flintoff was bowled out cheaply. Those two wickets caused England to drop from 113/1 to 121/3 in no time at all, but Rew and Mayes stepped up to take control. This marks Dawkins’ third consecutive half-century against India in this series. England always seemed to have the chase under control, thanks to the explosive batting from Dawkins and Ben Mayes, which allowed them to surpass the 100 run mark in just 15 overs.

Earlier today, RS Ambrish fought hard to score an impressive 66 not out, helping India cross the 200-run mark on Monday. Thanks to his 68-run partnership for the 8th wicket with Yudhajit Guha, India set England a target of 211. This partnership was crucial, especially after India found themselves at 135-7 at one point, with several key players including last match’s centurion Vaibhav Suryavanshi (who scored 33), Rahul Kumar (21), Harvansh Pangalia (24), and Kanishk Chouhan (24) getting starts but failing to convert. Ultimately, it was Ambrish and Guha who stepped up to push India past the 200 mark.

The young Suryavanshi, after a blistering ton in IPL, had shown his ballistic batting approach in previous games, registering the fastest ton for a youth player. He got to his mark in just 52 deliveries. He eventually ended up with a mammoth total of 143 runs from 78 balls. The blistering knock included 10 mammoth sixes and 13 boundaries.

The win doesn’t change the outcome of the five match series, which India has won with a 3-2 lead.
