England has a unique spot in Sachin Tendulkar’s heart. When he was younger, he made his first trip to England with Kailash Gattani’s Star Cricket Club. A few years later, as a rising star, he achieved his first Test century for India at Old Trafford.

It was quite a heartfelt moment for the former India captain on Thursday when his portrait was revealed at the MCC Museum in Lord’s, just before the third Test between India and England.

He also had the honor of ringing the bell to kick off the Test matches before the portrait, created by Stuart Pearson Wright, was unveiled with much celebration. “I’m really thrilled. The portrait looks amazing. I chatted with Stuart, the artist, and I told him that the portrait truly speaks to you. They have this incredible ability to express what they want through their art, and I believe the portrait achieves that”, said an emotional Tendulkar.

As an art lover, Tendulkar reminisced about the past. “Back in 1988-89 with the Star Cricket Club, I visited Lords, and we snapped a photo in front of the pavilion. Now, having my portrait displayed inside the pavilion feels like a full circle moment, and it’s truly satisfying. It’s a great feeling”,Tendulkar shared.
